Auto and truck engines from American, domestic (even Canadian) plants, have a solid reputation for durability, robust performance and consistent power delivery. The quality engineering and precision manufactured pickup truck engines are no exception.
Many of our top-line Dodge Ram 3500 Pickup rebuilt engines and remanufactured long blocks have lots to offer proud truck owners and engine enthusiasts. High-performance upgrade with that little extra horses and torque under-hood is just what these heavy-duty workhorses need and the power plants deliver!
Take for example the well-known, beloved Mopar Dodge Ram V8, 5.9 L, 360 CID Magnum engine (94-97) with roller cam, block #006, head #671, 044, crank #640, 169. The oil filter plate has 6 holes, with bolt down rockers for a solid and snug fit, minimizing noise and vibration. 1994-2001 Dodge Ram Pickup truck engines are high in demand and ample supply in the engine parts and aftermarket.
The full-sized, bold design and power-hungry truck demands that best that the market has to offer. It could quite easily be equipped with a V10 engine, developing 300 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque! Initially, the Dodge Ram 3500 pickup sold only with a regular-cab body, a short or long cargo box, 2- or 4-wheel drive, in three series: 1500 (1/2-ton), 2500 (3/4-ton), and 3500 (one-ton), the latter with dual rear wheels.
The first generation of these trucks has a couple of engine choices: V6, three V8s, and a turbo-diesel inline six Mopar engine. The 1997 models for example had a 5.9-liter V8 with engine improvements that have it shifting from 230 to 235 horsepower!
Powertrain options and availability on all Dodge Ram trucks, came with any of five engines.
* A 3.9-liter V6 making 175 horsepower (170 bhp in '96) went into 1500-series models.
* A 220-horsepower, 5.2-liter V8 went into 4x4s and 2500-series Rams, and was optional in 1500-series.
* A 230-horsepower, 5.0-liter V8 was standard in 3500-series, optional in others.
* A Cummins-engineered 5.9-liter inline 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel could be installed in 2500- and 3500-series Rams.
* Turbo-diesels made 175 horsepower with manual shift, or 160 with automatic (215/180 horsepower in 1996).
* The 8.0-liter V10 delivered 300 horsepower.
Engine configuration, size liters/cu. in. , Horse-power and Torque all matter when you select the truck engine that is right for your Dodge Ram truck, as are the model year and engine compartment, technical power specifications and requirements. Discuss these with our in-house experts for optimal compatibility and performance.
